We had the guild tea party yesterday, and I had a lot of fun! Not many people came, but that made it a nice little intimate affair that was actually nicer in some ways than the big stuff. I feel like I really got a chance to relax and chat with everybody. The tea service and food were a little more causal than last year's, but everything was yummy, and I found a tea that I really liked, which was surprising since I usually don't like tea. Coleen brought her box-o-vintage patterns again, and I got another stack of fabulous 30's, 40's, and 50's patterns. Score! We talked about doing a 1940's themed event next year, which would be crazy fun, and [livejournal.com profile] bonatirer has pledged to get a croquet set so we can have a victorian croquet day at some point in the future.

Here are my pics in the DFWCG flickr pool, and here's the one group shot where you can see my 1940's dress.

It always cracks me up when I see pictures of [livejournal.com profile] demode next to [livejournal.com profile] sarahbellem because they are both perfectly proportional, but built on entirely different scales. Well, I feel like I've got that effect going on with this picture - that'll teach me for wearing heels!

Yay for getting to relax with a nice intimate tea! I like how you all look like you fit right into the setting. :-)

That's lovely! I wish I could have been there. We had both a graduation and a wedding yesterday. Crazy busy.

Hey, just how tall are you? I'm 5'9" barefoot, so I totally understand feeling the big one in the group!

And count me in for a 40s event! (Your hair looks great - that's pretty much what I do every day!)

I'm 5'7", which isn't unusually tall. I guess that's why I was so surprised by how tall I looked in this picture!

And I love wearing my hair like that too! I've done a better job with it in the past - the rolls were starting to droop a bit by the time this picture was taken - but at least I'm getting more practice. I'd love to wear my hair like that all the time too, but I'm too afraid my students would make fun of me! Teenagers are MEAN!

I hope we really do a 40's event next year. It would be a blast!

Oh, how I love seeing pictures of the teas you guys have! We have none of this out east (which is surprising, considering I live in New England). Perhaps I'll try to organize one of these myself. :)

Thanks so much for posting!

I was so delighted to see everyone at the tea! And the food was lovely too.

(BTW, I am writing a post for the DFWCG blog on the tea. Is it ok if I use your pictures of the food for that? I meant to take my own but forgot my camera.)
