From some of the comments that I've gotten, I'm afraid that I've given people the impression that you have to be incredibly "artistic" or draw well to do the ATC exchange. Nothing could be farther from the truth! I'm drawing mine because I like to draw, but hand-drawn/painted ATC's are actually pretty rare. If you would like to participate, I guarantee you that I can help you figure out something to make that you will be proud of. I'm an art teacher - this is my profession. I take people who don't think they have a creative bone in their bodies and show them how anybody can make art. And the whole purpose of starting the community (BTW, that's [livejournal.com profile] costumer_atc!) is so we can all get inspiration from each other too!

Anyway. I'll stop spamming you all about it now. Hope you come join us! ;)

Thank you for that post. I cannot draw. I got a B in middle school art because I aced the art history exam and tried really hard on all of the projects. Sadly, they were all a disaster. However, ATCs are a really wonderful opportunity to be creative even if you aren't a wonderful at painting or drawing. I tend to use rubberstamps and collage techniques on mine. I particularly love doing backgrounds, because I get to play with colors and inks.

Thank you for creating this ATC exchange. I'm really looking forward to seeing the posts in the community.

I've been thinking about this and since I'm weening myself off the internet, I thought wow, that would be something lovely to try (I do miss being creative outside of the writing, and when I at and sewed all afternoon yesterday, I felt happier than I did in a long time) but I can't do anything to do with my private life under the Marquesate one. so ... don't be surprised if someone is joining your LJ soon. :-)

I just did two for another exchange, and I'll post them on Flickr and on costumersATC later today.

I realized that they are about having fun, not about stress, about just doing art. I just took drawings from old books, printed them and colored them in with colored pencil and a little ink pen.

I would if I only had some time. I have some really cool ideas for macro photography, and the view camera to do it with. I would just need some better lighting and some chemistry to develop and print the stuff. And more free time...
