I’m so excited to hear that there are plenty of other people interested in doing the Costumer’s ATC exchange! Yay!!! What I’ll do is set up a LJ community for anybody interested in participating (or just watching) and we can organize things there. I’ll try to do that in the next few days.

But for this week’s Art Wednesday, I thought I’d post my first card that I’m made to trade. I decided to do a series of slightly quirky re-drawings of fashionable ladies from my early Edwardian magazines. I started by gluing layers of tissue-paper patterns onto a big sheet of paper, then I cut that down to make a bunch of 2 ½ x 3 ½“ cards. Then I’m drawing on top of that with a variety of media (colored pencil, ink, shoe polish, scratching into the surface with a knife, etc). The first card took me less than 2 hours, and since I’m doing it at work while the kids are drawing, it’s a perfect time killer/demo (I love being an art teacher!). I’ve already started my second one. They are totally addictive!

Ok, I might have to join Art Trading Cards because... I want that card! It's awesome!

That's very, very cool!

If I were an artist, I'd get in on it, but I'll have to just be content sitting back and watching people share cool art.

Look forward to seeing more!

Oooo... I love the texture of the tissue paper with that. Did you use acrylic?

I've been having fun lately with something similar, except with torn strips of old hardcover Reader's Digests (from the '50s/'60s). It takes watercolors beautifully!

I heard about this through [livejournal.com profile] corsetrasewing and I'm very excited about participating...

I was thinking that it would be fun to do not only mixed media, but perhaps a scrapbook of sorts. Kind of a way of documenting the projects I am working on, showcasing past projects, or even getting together ideas for future projects. I could use samples of fabric and pictures of costumes, or fashion plates, and sample embroidery. It would be fun to not only do things that I have worked on, but perhaps some of my friends projects as well.

I'm sorry for blathering on! I just really LOVE this idea! It's so fun! I can't wait to find out more... what your plans are for a LJ comm, and whom else is participating!

Now I'm terrified. I am so NOT an artist, and the most that I could possibly contribute would be photos of things I've made. I was sort of thinking that that was what you were talking about--did I get it wrong? My stick people are even terrible...

You are so talented! Can't wait to join your ATC group even though these days, I'd been mostly just a gawker. ;)

Pretty pretty! Yay for short projects!

Gosh... maybe I should make myself do art again. I like the concept of an Art Wednesday.
