Texans have some sort of weird obsession with taking pictures of kids (and horses and cows and pets - see Exhibit A) sitting in a field of bluebonnets. It's like a rite of passage. I think it's hokey but I enjoy a bit of kitch every now and then, so I thought I'd take some bluebonnet pics to send to E's Grandma.

He's a smart boy though and fought me tooth and nail. Elijah HATES bluebonnets. They apparently make him cry on contact. Which resulted in possibly the best bluebonnet picture ever. I love the big crocodile tears on his cheeks. That probably makes me an evil person, but it's just too funny.

You're not an evil person! Of course, I may just be saying that because I subjected my own spawn to bluebonnet torture a month-or-so ago. ;)

I LOVE bluebonnets! I have some fascination with taking pictures of bluebonnets! but... I always have to laugh when I see a family in their Sunday best propped up on a hill on the side of the interstate. It's probably a little hypocritical of me laughing at them because with my own little fascination with the flower I will prolly be just like them at some point ~L~ Up to now so far it’s just pictures of the flower it’s self.

I love your picture of E in them. So not typical! I love it!

Hahahah! :D

I've never had the chance to get my photo taken like that... I keep hoping to, but always forget! I think it's that getting together and figuring out what I want to wear and finding a patch and hauling the gear out to do it. I had also hoped to get a Texas Bluebonnet Tartan sash to wear, too, but I haven't had the chance to get one yet. Someday (for both sash and photos)! :)

Cute pics, hee hee! :)

You must be from the Northern parts of Ohio - snow on Easter was an unusual event in Columbus...

Yeah, I remember that fondly. It never really gets truly cold down here, so it's not as big a deal. I miss it.

When we first moved to Texas, we didn't know it was illegal to pick Bluebonnets. So, we showed up at my grandmother's door with a nice big bunch for her. I was seven and my brother was five. We were heart broken. We had such a fun time picking those flowers. While Bluebonnets are pretty, I prefer Indian Paintbrushes.
